Katie Nanni

Katie Nanni was born and raised outside of Philadelphia in nearby Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Her love for dance started when she began taking class at just three years old! She trained around the Philadelphia area concentrating mostly at the Rock School for Dance Education, at the Pennsylvania Ballet.

It was about this time that her love for musical theatre began as well. Her teachers insisted that to succeed at either one, one must devote their entire focus to that discipline. With passion for each and unable to choose, she continued to explore both avenues. Dancing was always fun, but was always serious business. Katie's teachers quickly were able to identify the passion and focus she possessed within.

As she continued to study and take class, she auditioned and was offered the opportunity to spend the summer training at the North Carolina School for the Arts. While there, she met other dancers, actors, musicians and artists from all different walks of life training in their respective disciplines. It was about this time she began to dream of having her own successful career in the arts. After her two summers at NCSA, she had to decide on a path to take. She chose first to chase her desire to become a concert dancer and was accepted as a Ballet major at SUNY Purchase.

It wasn't long after she arrived at Purchase that she was offered the opportunity to return to Pennsylvania Ballet, this time on full scholarship with the opportunity to dance with the company in several of their ballets. She left college to fulfill the first of her many dreams. After dancing with Pennsylvania for two years, she was then chosen as one of two women to join the contemporary ballet company Ohio Ballet.

At the Ohio Ballet, Katie used her technical skill from the ballet world and her passion for theatrical jazz. She worked for three years in Akron and Cleveland doing corps, soloist and principal work. But, after three years she wanted to be fulfilled in a new way and took a leap of faith by auditioning for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. After excepting a role in the show, she was now performing in New York City on the stage of Radio City Music Hall.

Once firmly planted in New York City, she began auditioning strictly for musical theatre and worked in many shows, including FAME, GREASE, CATS, WEST SIDE STORY and KISS ME KATE. She also toured with the 1st National tour of THE MUSIC MAN acting as the dance captain and swing as well as assisting the choreographer with setting the 2nd National. Katie toured with the production of DOCTOR DOLITTLE which was choreographed by Rob Ashford and whose work she has always greatly admired!

After DOCTOR DOLITTLE closed, Katie came back to the city and auditioned for the new Disney musical MARY POPPINS. After a plethora of callbacks and nervous nights, she was given an offer to open a brand new show on Broadway. She had finally accomplished what her dance teachers said she could not, so many years ago. She's become a celebrated concert dancer as well as an actress on an original Broadway production.
